Museum in the city, a city in the museum
The presented project integrates the new building in the abandoned youth area of the Sea Park in Varna. This beautiful area is at the same time right next to the already existing building of the old museum for natural history, but also gives the opportunity to include and connect the new building with the network of existing cultural and historic sights in Varna.

The concept of the Museum is built on five main principles:
– the delicate integration in the natural slope
– smooth transition among The Marine Park and The 1st alley
– design which interacts with large public
– multifunctionality of the program
– provocative spiral connection among spaces.

Spiral ramp complimenting the composition
The functional separation comes from the wish to create a smooth and harmonic connection between the two alleys. The smoothly rising ramp connects a series of levels organized in a spiral on the slope. These stepwise levels have exhibition areas. The last two levels are not isolated in separate spaces and in this way they present to the visitor a view of exhibitions, context, beautiful Marine Park and bay.

Taxonomic classification and / or recreated micro-environment?
To organize a thrilling and interactive exhibition we suggest the use of a combined method. With it the visitor can observe the different species of animals, but at the same time he can by just looking over his shoulder touch defined micro-environments such as living organisms in marine dunes and alpine environment, its plants, birds and mammals.

Clear and simple vision
Usually the micro-environment is presented by the so called dioramas. The present suggestion concentrates the visitor’s attention to the esthetics of the exhibits and the presented organisms. We give a special attention to the change the exhibition’s theatrical scenery character to sophisticated, simple and minimalist look.
